How we collect, use, share and protect your personal information. Effective October 20, 2026.
Careers Expert Group Pty Ltd, an Australian company trading as Careers Expert Group ("we", "us", "our"), provides executive career transition services, including executive resumes, LinkedIn profiles, positioning and transition programs, interview coaching by video and free executive resume assessments. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit www.careersexpert.com or use our services in the United States, and describes the privacy rights available to residents of certain US states.
The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include:
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, immigration status or criminal history. If a document you send us contains it, we use it only as needed to provide the service you requested, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
We collect most information directly from you: when you complete a form or upload your resume on our website, request a free executive resume assessment, book a consultation through Calendly, speak with us by phone or video, or email us. We may also receive information from others with your knowledge, for example an employer that arranges transition support for you, and from publicly available sources such as your public LinkedIn profile. We collect technical information automatically when you use our website.
You can make a general inquiry without giving us much detail, but we cannot assess your resume or provide our services without identifying you.
We use your personal information to:
We will never approach a search firm, employer, board or recruiter on your behalf, or share your resume with them, without your agreement.
We use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting tools such as services provided by Anthropic, to help us review resumes and prepare first drafts of assessments, documents and research. A member of our team reviews this work before anything is sent to you, and decisions about your service are made by people. Our AI providers process your information on our behalf under terms that do not permit them to use it to train their models.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We disclose it only as needed to run our business and provide our services, to:
Careers Expert Group Pty Ltd is based in Australia, and our team and service providers operate in several countries. Your personal information may therefore be transferred to, stored and processed in Australia and other countries, which may have data protection laws different from those in your state. Wherever your information is processed, we protect it as described in this policy.
Our website uses cookies, pixels and similar technologies to work properly, understand how it is used, and show and measure our advertising, including tools provided by Google and LinkedIn. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device, browser and the pages you visit. We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing some advertising cookies and pixels to collect information on our site may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or as "targeted advertising", under California and other state laws. You can opt out through the cookie settings on our website, by turning on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, which we honor as an opt-out request for that browser, or by emailing us. Because there is no common standard for browser "Do Not Track" signals, we do not respond to them, but we do honor GPC. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser and manage ad personalization in your Google and LinkedIn account settings. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if cookies are disabled.
Our website and services are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure or alteration, including access controls and secure, encrypted services. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide our services, for the purposes described in this policy and to meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations, then securely delete or de-identify it. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you where required by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. Residents of California (under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) and of other states with comprehensive privacy laws, such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon, may have the right to: know about and access the personal information we hold about them, including the categories we collect, use and disclose; correct inaccurate information; delete their information; receive a copy in a portable format; opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information and of targeted advertising; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information described in section 1 (identifiers, professional and employment information, commercial information and internet activity), from the sources in section 2, for the purposes in section 3, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients in section 5. Where these laws apply, we will honor these rights, subject to the exceptions the laws allow.
To exercise your rights, email us at support@careersexpert.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We need to verify your identity before we act on a request, usually by matching information you give us with the information we hold, and we may ask for more details. You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you; we may ask for proof that you gave the agent signed permission and ask you to verify your identity directly with us. We respond within the time required by applicable law, generally 45 days, and will tell you if we need more time. If we decline your request, we will explain why, and you can appeal by replying to our decision. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your appeal, you can contact your state attorney general or, in California, the California Privacy Protection Agency at cppa.ca.gov.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page with its "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by posting a notice on our website.
