Executive outside his new office
Executive applications

An application written for the role in front of you.

When a specific senior role matters, a general resume isn't enough. Your coach tailors your resume to that role and writes the cover letter or outreach letter that goes with it, so the search consultant or hiring panel sees exactly why you fit.

When it's used

When one role is worth getting right.

Advertised roles

A role you've seen advertised

A senior role on a job board or a search firm's website, where your resume and cover letter are read against a clear brief.

Search firms

A search consultant's brief

A role a search firm has approached you about, where your application needs to match the brief they'll present to their client.

Direct approach

An organization you want to approach

A role or organization you're approaching directly, with an outreach letter that opens the conversation before a role is advertised.

How we write it

Built around what the role asks for.

01

Start with the role

We work from the advertisement, the position description and anything the search consultant has shared, so we know exactly what the role needs to see.

02

A conversation first

Your Executive Transition Coach talks the role through with you to draw out the experience and results that best match it. Nothing is written from a form.

03

Your resume, tailored

Your resume is reordered, reworded and reweighted for the role, so your most relevant achievements are the first thing the reader sees.

04

The letter that goes with it

A cover letter for an advertised role, or an outreach letter for a direct approach, making your case in a single page.

05

Ready for screening

Your resume uses the language of the role, so it passes the screening software and reads well to the person behind it.

06

One consistent story

Your resume, letter and LinkedIn profile tell the same story, so nothing contradicts you when they look closer.

What's included

Everything the application needs.

Tailored executive resume

Your resume adapted to the role: its language, its priorities and the results it needs to see.

Cover letter

A one-page letter that makes your case against the role, for advertised and search firm roles.

Or an outreach letter

A direct approach to a decision maker or search consultant, for roles that haven't been advertised.

Refined with your coach

Revised with you until it's right, and delivered in Word and PDF before your closing date.

Add what you need

A public sector application, a LinkedIn update or interview coaching, built on the same evidence.

Questions

Before you get in touch.

Do I need a new executive resume first?

Not always. If your current resume is a sound base, we tailor it to the role. If it needs more than tailoring, we'll recommend starting with an executive resume and tell you why.

Cover letter or outreach letter: which do I need?

A cover letter goes with an application for an advertised role. An outreach letter opens a conversation with an organization or search consultant when there's no advertised role. Your coach will recommend the right one.

Can you tailor applications for more than one role?

Yes. Each application is tailored to a single role, and many clients come back to us for several applications during their search.

The closing date is soon. Can you help?

Tell us the closing date when you get in touch, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

Can you help with the interview too?

Yes. Executive interview coaching can be added, delivered by video, and built on the examples in your application.
